The journey

I was born into a comfortable life in Chihuahua, at one of the city's best private Catholic schools. Then I left my country, my dad, my friends, and my family for a public school in El Paso. When the recession hit, there were days we walked the streets of El Paso buying gold to sell to the refinery, just to get by.

Counselors told me to take two or three AP classes, maybe four. I took seven. Every Ivy League school turned me down, and NYU Stern said yes. There I joined Alpha Kappa Psi, the oldest and largest business fraternity, in its Alpha chapter, the one founded at NYU. Many of the friends I made there are now experts in their fields.

For one interview I rode a bike to Grand Central, took a train to Stamford, Connecticut, and then a shuttle, in the rain, with $3 in my pocket. I walked in 45 minutes late and soaking wet, and I nailed it. That same grit got me into Accenture in New York as a management consulting analyst. I worked on the $100 billion Dow and DuPont merger and a $150 million zero-based budget, re-architected Con Edison's software stack, implemented a new ERP for the MTA, and ran project management at Estée Lauder.

Then I came back to freight. When I joined my mom's brokerage, it was just the two of us. Permit by permit, license by license, bond by bond, we earned the credibility to win bigger contracts and grew it past $20 million in revenue. I lost it because there was no purpose behind it, only money, and my ego made the decisions. For a while I lost myself too.

So I rebuilt with purpose. I spent months designing ENAIBL and convinced a co-founder to join for equity alone. It was working, but without capital we couldn't pay for sales and implementation. So I passed the Customs Broker License Exam with a 95% and started putting AI to work inside real customs and freight operations. That became ENAIBL: customs and freight that are finally easy-on.

8 years in freight and customs, from a two-person brokerage to licensed customs brokerage on the U.S.–Mexico border. Before that, management consulting analyst at Accenture in New York. Officer of an NVOCC, and the responsible party to TSA for its Indirect Air Carrier (IAC) certification.
